JOINING UMAA **UPDATES FORTHCOMING**
The UNIVERSAL MARTIAL ARTS ASSOCIATION is a multi-style organization. Practitioners of other styles of martial arts are also invited to participate in the Shorin Ryu Transition Program or the Shorin Ryu Kobudo Program.
Dojo Head Instructors or Organizational Heads interested in becoming a member or affiliated to the UMAA, are required to submit a set of completed applications (dojo/organization registration & individual memberships) along with appropriate fees. For Dojo/Organization Heads, please include a brief resume with your applications along with a copy of your latest Yudansha Certificate.
The UMAA is a Black Belt Organization! All Black Belts are highly encouraged to join UMAA as Life Members. This is a one time fee of $250. All Dojo Head Instructors are required to join UMAA as Life Members in order to be awarded a School or Dojo Charter.
Each Dojo or Affiliated Organization within the UMAA is required to be registered with the Association annually each January.
All Dojo or Affiliated Organization registrations will be issued a Registration Certificate (Charter) from UMAA. Each UMAA Dojo or Affiliated Organization must be supported by a State or Regional UMAA representative. In this manner the Dojo or Affiliated Organization is guaranteed to have a specific individual responsible for supporting their program. New Members/Dojo/Organizations may request to become the UMAA representative for their state if none exist. In this case, the Regional representative will assume responsibility of assisting the new State representative dojo/organization.
In the case of those Dojos/Affiliated Organizations only involved in the UMAA Shorin Ryu Kobudo Division, all individuals of the member body training in UMAA Shorin Ryu Kobudo are expected to be members of a UMAA Chartered school.
Active UMAA School Membership will be required for any such individual to receive rank certification in Shorin Ryu Kobudo from UMAA.
